Duncanville, TX (February 21, 2021) – As a result of the winter storm that brought freezing temperatures and power outages that impacted Texas and the City of Duncanville, a STAGE 3 – Water Warning was initiated on Thursday, February 18, 2021. The Water Warning required businesses and citizens to conserve water as the city’s water reserve dropped to 37%. This was followed by an Executive Order from Mayor Barry L. Gordon on Friday, February 19, 2021, ordering the city’s industrial businesses to cease operations in a continuing effort to rebuild reserves and avert a boil water notice.

Dallas Water Utilities worked with Duncanville Utilities to replenish supply as residents and businesses cooperated with the calls for water conservation, taking immediate and measurable actions that curbed water usage throughout the city. This combination of efforts along with Dallas Water Utilities’ ability to continue to safely provide supply to Duncanville, replenished water reserves, returning levels to normal.

On Sunday, February 21, 2021, Duncanville ended water restrictions and calls for conservation that included a reduction of toilet flushing, shower use, dishwasher use, and a postponement of clothes washing. Industrial users were cleared to resume operations as water supply was able to meet demand. Duncanville returned to a STAGE 1 – Normal and is again capable of safely serving the city’s typical water needs.

Monitoring of the city’s water system will continue to ensure it is safely sustaining both supply and demand. As temperatures continue to warm residents are reminded to call the City’s Water Utilities to report ruptured pipes and water leaks by calling 972-780-5010 ext. 7.

Duncanville, TX (February 20, 2021) – The City of Duncanville will be providing free bottles of drinking water to those without a home water supply. Residents in need can pick up water on Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the D.L. Hopkins Senior Center located at 206 James Collins Blvd, Duncanville, TX 75116.

The Duncanville water supply continues to be safe and potable. At this time the City has not issued a boil water notice. Duncanville water pressure is adequate and water quality is perfectly safe for all household uses, but the city remains under a STAGE 3 – Water Warning, requiring citizens and businesses to continue water conservation until water reserves return to levels appropriate to safely serve the city.

Many Duncanville residents are without water because of emergency water shut-offs to residences due to several broken domestic water lines and pipes within homes. There is a current lack of availability of water at local stores due to demand and many residents are in dire need of drinking water.

If your household needs water, please send one vehicle to the distribution location to receive water. The water supply is limited, so please only attend if you in fact needing water. This will help ensure those in desperate need can get this resource. This water should be used for drinking and cooking, not for household uses like flushing toilets.
