Governor Abbott Lifts Mask Mandate, Opens Texas 100 Percent

Governor Greg Abbott today issued an Executive Order (GA-34) lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100 percent. The Governor made the announcement at Montelongo’s Mexican Restaurant in Lubbock in an address to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.Β

    US National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas is reporting additional flooding and severe weather are expected today through Wednesday Night with the heavy rain axis slowly shifting generally along and east of I-35. Rain chances continue into the weekend, but the threat for heavy rain will diminish; however rivers will remain in flood for quite some time.OverviewπŸ’§ Today: Showers and thunderstorms will continue across the region today. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding are the main threats. However, a few strong to severe storms containing hail and damaging winds are possible in Central and East Texas. πŸ’§ Tonight: Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop overnight across parts of the region. There is considerable uncertainty with respect to where these storms may develop and intensity, but areas along and east of I-35 will see the best chances. πŸ’§ Wednesday Into Early Thursday: High rain and storm chances continue. Continued threat for heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and ongoing river flooding.πŸ’§ An additional 2 to 6 inches of rainfall, with isolated amounts up to 8 inches are possible through early Thursday across East and Central Texas. Lower amounts are expected elsewhere. πŸ’§ Thursday into the weekend: Rain chances will continue with highest rain chances generally across East Texas. The threat for heavy rainfall will diminish but any additional rainfall could result in minor flooding issues. River flooding will continue. What We Are Certain Of: πŸ’§ More rounds of showers and storms, some containing heavy rainfall will occur through Wednesday Night/early Thursday morning.
