2018 State of the City & Awards of Excellence

Mayor Barry Gordon presented the 2018 State of the City Address at the annual ‘Celebrate Duncanville’ event co-hosted by the City and Chamber of Commerce on January 17, 2019. Approximately 200 attendees from various community organizations and businesses enjoyed an evening celebrating the City of Champions and recognizing outstanding leaders and businesses in the community.

The Mayor presented Awards of Excellence to two Duncanville businesses for 2018:

  • La Mexicana Tortilla Factory

Police Civil Service Exam Apply by Nov 23rd

The Duncanville Police Department is giving a Police Civil Service exam on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Individuals interested in an amazing career in Law Enforcement are urged to go online to fill out an interest card to be eligible for the civil service exam.

Duncanville Police Department has great opportunities in a variety of aspects of police work. If you are interested in a law enforcement career, submit an interest card by November 23, 2016 at 3pm to be eligible for the exam on December 3, 2016.

Duncanville Police Investigate Bank Robbery

On Monday, July 18, 2016, at approximately 9:36 a.m. Duncanville Police Officers were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at the bank located in the 100 block of North Cedar Ridge Dr. Bank employees were contacted by police and they confirmed the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black male, 30 – 40 years of age, heavy set, gold teeth, medium length afro hairstyle with black beard and moustache. The suspect was wearing a black ball cap and long-sleeve black shirt. He had black-rimmed eyeglasses with a white patch/cloth over his right eye.

The suspect fled the location on a bicycle in the north bound direction on Cedar Ridge Dr. Responding officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect fled the location with an undetermined amount of money at this time.

The Duncanville Police Department and Citizens On Patrol Program offers Vacation Home Checks. Vacation Home Checks are available to Duncanville residents taking a vacation or extended trip for more than 3 days but no more than 3 weeks. The patrol checks will occur as time permits and focus on the perimeter of your home.

    Council Seeks Citizens to Serve on City Boards & Commissions

    The Duncanville City Council is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering their service on one of the City’s boards or commissions. To be eligible to serve, one must be a resident of the City of Duncanville, and not be in arrears on City of Duncanville ad valorem taxes or fines or fees.

    Applications are being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:

    • City Planning & Zoning Commission
    • Zoning Board of Adjustment
    • Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
    • Library Advisory Board
    • Sign Control Board
    • Duncanville Community & Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC)
    • Keep Duncanville Beautiful Board
    • Duncanville Community Multicultural Commission
    • Duncanville Social Engagement Partnership
    • Tri-City Animal Shelter Advisory Board
    • Civil Service Commission

    Applications will be accepted thru July 15, 2016. Following the application deadline, each applicant will be contacted to schedule a brief interview with the City Council. Appointments to the Boards and Commissions are then made in August by the City Council.
